Longhorn offensive tackle Desmond Harrison has been cleared by the NCAA to play in games this season, a team source said.
Harrison, a 6-foot-8, 315-pound junior, transferred to Texas this summer from Contra Costa Community College in California. But he was held out of practice for two weeks while his eligibility status was determined because of an online English class he took through Brigham Young University in the spring.
BYU has a rule prohibiting athletes from other schools from taking its online independent studyclasses.
However, Contra Costa accepted the credit, and Texas accepted the junior college degree that Harrison needs for eligibility.
