Freshman advances at Oracle ITA Masters

Texas freshman tennis player Yuya Ito notched a straight-set victory Thursday to advance to the second round of the Oracle ITA Masters in Malibu, Calif.

Ito defeated Kei Ezaka of Quinnipiac 6-4, 6-2 and will take on Jack Findel-Hawkins of North Florida on Friday.

Ito was the top-seeded in the men’s singles draw. He’s won six of seven singles contests in the month of October. He has two wins over top-50 opponents.
