Texas senior Jasmine Hart scored twice to give the Longhorns their first conference win of the season, a 2-0 shutout of Texas Tech Friday night at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
The win broke Texas’ four-game losing streak to conference opponents. Texas (8-7-1, 1-4-1) moved up to seventh place in the Big 12 with two conference games remaining. Texas Tech (8-6-2, 1-5-0) has lost four straight conferences matches.
Hart, who is second on the team with four goals, put Texas ahead in the 24th minute when she got a crossing pass from Katie Glenn on the right edge of the penalty box and headed it past Texas Tech goalie Lauren Watson.
Emma Jett sent a pass to the middle of the penalty box in the 56th minute and Hart was able to beat Watson from seven yards out.
Watson had nine saves as Texas put 11 shots on goal. Texas goalie Paige Brown had her fourth shutout of the season and finished with six saves.
