This is the first fair start for him, too, because it's been his team since spring practice. So coming out of the national championship game, he's worked very hard to make good decisions and drop the ball off and lead his team, so I'm sure his head will be spinning some by Saturday.

The Heisman Trust has to make that decision. I have total respect for Reggie Bush. But I’m a Vince guy. Of course, I think our guys ought to win it every year. I would love for the Heisman Trust to look at a re-vote or give it to the second guy in the voting, which was Vince.

We want (Garrett Gilbert) to have fun. This has been a dream for him. So to live your dream you've got to enjoy yourself, and enjoy the moment. Not everything will work great. He's going to have some problems, but the way you overcome those problems is the way you win.

I think No. 1 we want to see about our offense. There is the new quarterback and we have more inexperience than we have on defense. We are moving toward a more power running game, but we still want to throw it about 50 percent of the time. We want to run the ball. We want to be able to run it well when we run it. That's not what we did last year.

Fozzy and Tre didn't do anything differently. t's just the power that Cody brings. And he can pass protect and catch the ball out of the backfield. With the power running attack we're looking at, and the downhill runs, he's just a real load.

I've always talked about it, I might live to regret it. (On wanting to play Kansas twice a year. With the round-robbin format every team will play their Big 12 opponents twice, once home and once away.)

We’re never going to apologize for who we are. We are Texas. People might thumb their noses or roll their eyes when we say that, but we are Texas and that’s the bottom line.

Hopefully, you can show people you don't have to have big numbers. I like the round robin. You can't do it with 12 teams. You can't play 22 games and keep your national schedule. But 18 is a perfect number because from a competitive standpoint, you add two more great games to your schedule.
