Scouting the Fabulous 55: No. 43, wide receiver Miles Battle

How many colleges would be interested in a 6-4 receiver who uses his size when the ball's in the air? Plenty, apparently.

Scouting Battle: Battle is a tough matchup for many reasons. His height is the first thing that stands out. At 6-4, he always holds jump ball advantages over cornerbacks and safeties. Battle uses his size to his advantage, not only to out-jump defenders, but to gain and maintain position once the ball is in the air. As a junior, he caught 74 passes for 1,049 yards and 14 touchdowns in only 10 games, averaging 14.2 yards per catch.

He doesn’t win with speed, though he has plenty to become a quality receiver at the Power 5 level. His size not only allows him to win deep balls; his frame makes him a top target on third downs and in the red zone. Robinson has tight end length and should be able to pack on more weight as he moves into a college program. He isn’t blazing fast or overly elusive once he’s made the catch. It’s his frame and football IQ that will allow him continued success.

Battle already holds 17 offers and that number will only grow as colleges get a first-hand look at him during the spring and summer. He impressed at The Opening in Houston on Feb. 4.
