Texas players make All-Big 12 women’s basketball team

Senior Nneka Enemkpali has been chosen to the All-Big 12 preseason team and Longhorn forward Ariel Atkins has been chosen freshman of the year, the conference announced Wednesday.

Enemkpali, a 6-1 forward from Pflugerville, averaged 12 points and 8.6 rebounds a game as a junior. Atkins was named to the McDonald’s All-America team after averaging 16.8 points a game for Duncanville High during her senior season.

Joining Enemkpali on the All-Big 12 first team are West Virginia guard Bria Holmes, who has been tabbed the conference’s pre-season player of the year. Also on the first team are Kansas forward Chelsea Gardner, TCU guard Zahna Medley and Baylor forward Nina Davis.


Texas post Imani McGee-Stafford was named to the conference’s honorable mention list.

Oklahoma sophomore guard Peyton Little has been named Big 12 preseason newcomer of the year.
