Texas G Isaiah Taylor to miss ‘extended time’ with wrist injury
Posted November 21st, 2014
Texas guard Isaiah Taylor will not play in Friday’s game against California in the 2K Classic championship game because of the left wrist injury suffered Thursday night against Iowa.
Taylor will likely miss “extended time,” according to a UT spokesman. However, the injury is not considered to be season ending.
Taylor drove the lane and was hammered by Gabriel Olaseni, who was charged with a flagrant foul. Taylor’s upper body extended back and he landed on his wrist. The sophomore stayed on a court a brief moment but got up and walked toward the bench under his own power. Taylor finished the game with 15 points in 26 minutes and told reporters afterward he didn’t think it was too serious.
The Longhorns consider themselves to be extremely deep, so plugging in another guard isn’t necessarily the issue. It’s likely that backup Kendal Yancy will see extended minutes alongside Javan Felix and Demarcus Holland. Another guard, Damarcus Croaker, could see action. Croaker did not play against Iowa.
Taylor issued the following tweet on is account after the Iowa game.
I love my team ! #UnitedWeStand
