Texas tops Rice, 4-3, in 10 innings to split series

Posted February 15th, 2015

Texas 4, Rice 3 (10)

Why Texas (2-2) won: Freshman designated hitter Michael McCann doubled down the left-field line for the winning run in the 10th. It was McCann’s first collegiate hit.

Why Rice (2-2) lost: Right-fielder Charlie Warren misplayed a ball in the outfield, contributing a run to Texas’ three-run seventh.

Key stat: SS C.J Hinojosa was just 1 of 13 on the weekend, but his lone hit — a single — drove in a run in Sunday’s seventh. Hinojosa was disciplined for missing the team’s breakfast and did not start the game.

On deck: vs UTSA, 6 p.m. Tuesday, LHN, 1300.
