Texas golf relinquishes regional lead to host Texas Tech

LUBBOCK — Texas Tech shot 10-under par on Friday at the Rawls Course to overtake Texas for the regional lead entering Saturday’s final round.

Texas shot 2-under on the day and is 13-under for the tournament. It trails Tech by three strokes. Duke (-10), Houston (-7), Southeastern Louisiana (-4) and Louisville (-4) round out the top five.

For Texas, Gavin Hall (2-under 69) and Doug Ghim (70) were the only golfers under par for the round. Kramer Hickok shot even-71, while the team’s top two golfers, Beau Hossler and Scottie Scheffler were 1-over and 2-over, respectively.


For the tournament, Hossler and Hall are tied for seventh at 4-under. Hickok (2-under) is tied for 17th; Ghim (1-under) is tied for 23rd; and Scheffler (even) is tied for 26th.

The top five teams advance to nationals this month in Bradenton, Fla.
