Texas baseball wins at Baylor, 6-5
Posted May 16th, 2015
Texas 6, Baylor 5
Why Texas (25-24, 10-12) won: The Longhorns hit back-to-back home runs in the third inning (Collin Shaw and C.J Hinojosa) and again in the ninth (Hinojosa and Tres Barrera).
Why Baylor (20-29, 8-14) lost: Could not take full advantage of Texas’ five errors thanks in part to the four long balls.
Key stat: Texas starter Parker French threw just two innings by design so that he’ll be rested for Wednesday’s Big 12 tournament opener. French exited with the game tied 1-1. He surrendered two hits and struck out two. His lone run was earned — a leadoff homerun by Kameron Esthay in the second.
On deck: at Baylor, double-header Sunday at 1 p.m., 1300., Fox Sports Southwest
