The Texas soccer team peppered the Arkansas Little-Rock defense with 29 shots, but had to settle for a 0-0 draw Sunday afternoon at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
The Longhorns out shot Little Rock 13-2 in the first half, 9-3 in the second and held a 7-1 advantage in overtime, but couldn’t get one past Arkansas- Little Rock goalie Sara Small. Small had eight saves in her second shutout of the season.
” I am not displeased with the effort, I just need the execution to be more focused and figure out how to put the ball in the back of the net” said head coach Angel Kelly. “Their goalkeeper did a heck of a job”.
Texas goalie Abby Smith got her 27th career shutout and had four saves. Smith is just three shutouts away from breaking Dianna Pfenninger’s school record.
The Longhorns finished nonconference play at 3-2-3 and are riding a four-match unbeaten streak heading into the Big 12 season. Texas will open Big 12 play against seventh-ranked West Virginia on Friday in Morgantown, West Virgina.
