UT’s Yaasmeen Bedart-Ghani’s was named Big 12 rookie of the week after her performance in Texas’ sweep of Iowa State on Saturday, the conference announced on Monday.
Bedart-Ghani, a 6’4 outside hitter from Los Angeles, was second in the conference in hitting last week with a .667 percentage. She tied a career high with seven kills and had just one error on nine attempts against the Cyclones.
Bedart-Ghani is the fourth Longhorn and second Texas freshman to win a weekly award by the conference this season. UT’s Morgan Johnson won rookie of the week honors to open the season.
