Longhorn posts nation’s top time in 200-yard IM

Longhorn Madisyn Cox swam the 200-yard individual medley in 1 minute, 54.29 seconds to win the event with the nation’s best time on the second day of the Texas Invitational at the Lee & Joe Jamail Swimming Center on Thursday night.

The All-American junior easily won the event and her teammate Nora McCullagh took seventh place.

The Longhorns also won the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:28.94, just a hundredth of a second better than second place Arizona. Mimi Schneider swam a 22.57 to lead off the race while Rebecca Millard finished the second leg in 21.94. Brooke Hensen posted a 22.02 in the third leg and Sam Sutton finished the race in 22.41 to edge out the Wildcats.


In the 500 freestyle, Quinn Carrozza took fourth place for Texas in 4:42.81. Joanna Evans finished the event in 4:43.07.

Rebecca Millard took third place in the 50 freestyle final in 22.29. Hansen finished in second place in the consolation final.

Tasija Karosas, Olivia Anderson, Remedy Rule and Millard swam a 3:34.32 to finish the night with a third-place finish in the 400 medley relay.
