Texas senior guard Empress Davenport’s performance against 14th ranked Stanford earned her Big 12 Conference player of the week honors, the league announced on Monday.
Davenport had a career-high 23 points, the second most scored against the Cardinal this season, in the fifth-ranked Longhorns’ 77-69 victory on Sunday. She added six rebounds and three assists in 39 minutes.
The Duncanville High grad was 9 of 17 from the field and shot 4 for 4 from the free-throw line to help Texas sink a season-high 23 foul shots. She entered the game averaging 5.9 points per game and her previous season-high was an 11 point performance against UT-San Antonio.
The undefeated Longhorns (8-0) will host Canisius (5-2) on Wednesday, then will travel to Oklahoma City to play Arkansas (3-7) in the Big 12/SEC Challenge on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
