MaxPreps tabs 2017 commit QB Sam Ehlinger to All-American Team

Posted January 8th, 2016

A couple days after being named the National Junior of the Year by MaxPreps, 2017 Texas commitment quarterback Sam Ehlinger was listed on the website’s first-team All-American squad. He is only one of two underclassmen named to the first-team offense for 2015. Two other players from Texas were chosen for the offense – tackle Greg Little from Allen High School and running back Trevor Speights from McAllen Memorial.

Ehlinger, who was previously named the Associated Press’ Texas Player of the Year in December, threw for 3,833 yards, rushed for 1,419 yards and was responsible for 71 total touchdowns in 2015. He led the Chaparrals to the state title game, where Westlake lost to Galena Park North Shore 21-14 in overtime. Westlake’s march to the state title game included a win over Allen High, breaking that school’s 57-game winning streak.
