Longhorns women’s tennis breezes to 7-0 win over Incarnate Word

The Texas Longhorns women’s tennis team breezed to a 7-0 win over Incarnate Word on Wednesday afternoon at Whitaker Tennis Courts. They clinched the doubles point with two wins and took all six singles matches.

Breaunna Addison and Dani Wagland defeated the team of Rachel Sadig and Victoria Kareh 6-0 in the first doubles match. Lana Groenvynck and Neda Koprcina followed that up with a 6-0 win of their own over Taryn Strahl and Sarah Savedra to secure the doubles point.

Koprcina defeated Kareh 6-1, 6-0 to get the Longhorns rolling in the singles competition. Freshman Katie Poluta then picked up her first collegiate victory, defeating Maria Batchinsky 6-0, 6-0.


Another freshman, Daniella Roldan, also earned her first collegiate win by defeating Strahl 6-3, 6-4 to seal the victory at 4-0 for Texas.

Groenvynck defeated Sarah Savedra 6-0, 6-3 to make it 5-0 before Addison picked up her 19th win of the season as she defeated Sadig 6-4, 6-2.

Wagland made it 7-0 with her 7-5, 6-1 win over Matea Zemunik to close out the match.

Texas next hosts UTSA at Whitaker Tennis Courts on Sunday at 1 p.m.
