The Texas women’s golf team finished in fourth place Tuesday at the UCF Challenge in Orlando, Fla. They moved up two spots in the final round to tie their best finish of the season.
Haley Mills led the Longhorns (299-297-295 — 891) with a 4-over-par 220 to tie for sixth after shooting a 74 Tuesday. She shot 72 in the first round and 75 on Monday. It was her second time finishing in the top-10 this season.
UT’s Julia Beck, Sophia Schubert and Maddie Luitwieler each shot a 74 on the final day of the tournament. Beck (77-71-74—222) tied for 16th at 6 over, and Schubert (74-75-74—223) tied for 19th at 7 over. Beck’s second round 71 was the best round of the tournament for Texas.
Luitwieler finished in a tie for 41st place while Tezira Abe ended the competition tied for 83rd. Luitwieler (76-78-74—228) ended at 12-over-par while Abe (82-76-80—238) was 22 over.
Houston won the team title at 885, six strokes ahead of Texas, and East Carolina’s Frida Gustafsson Spang won medalist honors with a 216.
