The Texas women’s golf team finished in second place at the UNF Collegiate in Jacksonville, Fla. on Tuesday. The Longhorns’ second place finish at the tournament, hosted by the University of North Florida, was their best of the season.
Texas shot 888, 24-over for the tournament to finish ten shots behind Houston, the tournament champions.
Sophia Schubert had her worst round of the tournament, 76, but still managed to finish in a tie for third place at 218, 2 over par. Megan Thothong and Emily Gilbreth of Houston tied for medalist honors, just one shot ahead of Schubert.
Natalie Karcher was the second-highest finishing Longhorn as she shot 221, 5-over for an 8th-place tie.
All Longhorns eligible for team scoring finished in the top-30. Maddie Luitwieler shot 227, 11 over par while Julia Beck shot 228, 12-over. Haley Mills finished at 229, 13 over par. Anne Hakula, playing as an individual for Texas finished in a tie for 46th at 232, 16-over.
