Texas women’s tennis team defeats Penn

The Texas women’s tennis team, ranked No. 32, defeated Pennsylvania 5-2 at the Weller Indoor Tennis Center on Thursday afternoon.

The Longhorns took the doubles point, winning two out of three matches. Breaunna Addison and Dani Wagland defeated the 67th-ranked doubles team of Kana Daniel and Sonya Latycheva 6-4. It was the 13th-ranked team’s third straight win over a ranked opponent. Neda Koprcina and Daniella Roldan held on for a 7-5 win over Marta Kowalska and Ria Vaidya to seal the doubles point.

Wagland picked up a singles win over Latycheva 6-2, 6-2 before Koprcina defeated Vaidya 6-2, 7-6 (3).


Katie Poluta clinched the match with a 6-2 win over Lina Qostal at fourth singles.

Penn picked up two three-set wins before Breaunna Addison defeated Daniel 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 to end the match at 5-2.

The Longhorns (6-4) next take on Princeton on Tuesday at the Whitaker Tennis Courts.
