Longhorns take 10th place in opening event at NCAA Championships

The Texas Longhorns swimming and diving team kicked off the NCAA Championships with a 10th place finish in the women’s 800-meter relay, earning 14 points on the night’s only event.

Madisyn Cox, Quinn Carrozza, Nora McCullagh and Tasija Karosas finished sixth in their 800-yard relay heat to take 10th place in the event. They finished in 7 minutes, 0.21 seconds which was the third best all-time at Texas.

Cox’s 1:44.61 in the opening leg preceded Carrozza’s second-leg time of 1:44.93. McCullagh swam a time of 1:46.67 before Karosas closed strong in the anchor leg at 1:44.00.


The Longhorns finished the event in 13th place last year, so they improved by three spots with three 1:44 split times this time around.

Georgia won the event in 6:51.80.
