Longhorns win four events at TCU Invitational

The Texas Longhorns picked up four wins as they turned their attention to outdoor track at the TCU Invitational in Fort Worth on Friday.

Asa Garcia picked up a win in the women’s triple jump event, posting a mark of 42 feet, 4 1/4 inches. It was the sixth best jump in school history.

Mary Beth Hamilton notched another win for the women as she ran a personal best 2:10.27 in the 800-meter run.


Robert Uhr finished in the top spot of the men’s 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:50.08. Nick Phynn notched the other men’s win with a victory in the triple jump. His wind-aided mark of 49 feet, 3 3/4 inches was better than second place by nearly four feet.

Ashley Miller took second place in the women’s 100-meter hurdles while Ashton Zamzow took second place in the javelin event.

Brian Peterson finished second in the discus throw with a toss of 172-7. Alex Rogers finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:52.01. Eric Kroon took second place in the 3,000 meters.

In the women’s pole vault, Kally Long cleared a height of 13-11 1/4 for second place. It’s the second-best mark in school history. She tied the first place height, but lost on number of misses.

Caitland Smith took second in the women’s 100 meters with a time of 11.56.
