Instant Reaction: Texas singes UTSA 11-2

Posted March 22nd, 2016

Where it went right: The entire sixth inning. It was a hysterical inning. Texas was tied 2-2 with UTSA going into the frame. The Longhorns loaded the bases on three straight walks, scored on either base hits or walks and didn’t register an out until after eight runs had crossed the plate. The inning lasted 35 minutes, UTSA used three pitchers and Texas sent 13 batters to the plate. Texas led 10-2 after the inning.

The starter: Nick Kennedy started for the Longhorns. He pitched two innings and allowed one run on one hit and walked one batter. Kennedy only pitched two innings because Texas used seven pitchers in the game. Augie Garrido decided to use his bullpen for the entire game.

Top hitter: Tres Barerra, 3-5, HR, 4 RBI.

Key Stat: Barerra’s home run is the first home run for Texas in 48 innings.

Next: 6 p.m., Thursday vs. TCU
