Sophia Schubert in third place at PING ASU Invitational

UT’s Sophia Schubert shot 2 under par in the second round Saturday and is in third place, four shots off the lead at 5 under par, in the PING ASU Invitational in Tempe, Ariz.

Three Longhorns shot at or under par in the second round, and UT is seventh in the team standings at 9 over par.

Texas’ Natalie Karcher carded a 67 and is tied for 28th, and teammate Julia Beck shot an even-par 72 and is tied for 32nd.


Schubert had two birdies on the front nine and added a birdie and a bogey on the back nine to finish with a 2-under 70.

UCLA’s Bronte Law and Lilia Vu are tied for first place at nine under. The Bruins hold a one stroke lead over Arizona State in the team standings at 8 under par. The Sun Devils have three players in the top ten and shot 6 under par on Saturday.
