Posted April 10th, 2016

The 17th ranked Texas men’s tennis team split a doubleheader on Sunday, falling to No. 9 Oklahoma 4-0 and then blanked Prairie View A&M 7-0 at the Polo Tennis Club in Dripping Springs.

The Sooners won the doubles point then pushed their lead to 3-0 behind straight-sets victories at the second and sixth singles positions. Oklahoma’s Spencer Papa dropped the first set against UT’s Adrian Ortiz 2-6, then rallied to win 6-0, 6-3 and clinch the team victory for the Sooners.

“You just have to give Oklahoma credit today. When we had opportunities for momentum, we didn’t get it.” said Texas coach Michael Center.  “We just have to learn from it. We have some big matches coming up and we’ll just keep pushing forward.”

Texas swept the doubles matches against Prairie View A&M and won all six singles matches in straight sets.
