Gavin Hall, No.1 Texas men’s golf win The Maxwell

UT’s Gavin Hall won medalist honors and top-ranked Texas won the Maxwell after the final round was canceled due to inclement weather in Ardmore, Oklahoma on Sunday.

Hall shot 6 under par through two rounds on Saturday and won by two strokes. It was his second victory of the season and sixth straight top 20 finish. Texas has won medalist honors in six of 10 tournaments this season.

Hall had five birdies in the first round and shot a season-low 66. He rolled in four birdies in the second round for a 68. Hall has carded seven rounds in the 60s this season.


The Longhorns took the team title at 13 under par, five strokes ahead of Baylor. Oklahoma State and New Mexico tied for third at 6 under. Baylor’s Hunter Shattuck tied for second with Memphis’ Lars van Meijel at 4 under.

UT’s Doug Ghim followed an opening round 72 with a 3 under par 67 and tied for 12th place at 1 under. Longhorn Scottie Scheffler shot a 75 then carded a career-low 65 with seven birdies in the second round to tie for 16th place at even par.

Taylor Funk shot a 71 and a 70 and tied for 22nd place at 1 over. Beau Hossler shot 2 under par in the first round then shot 5 over par in the second round and tied for 28th place at 3 over.
