Four local players sign with Texas volleyball

Posted May 4th, 2016

After losing Lake Travis product Amy Neal to graduation, the Texas volleyball replenished locally with the additions of four players from central Texas.

On Wednesday, the program announced the signings of Brentwood Christian’s Blair Westerlund (middle blocker), Westlake’s Claire Hahn (libero), Dripping Springs’ Autumn Rounsaville (libero) and La Grange’s Riley Fisbeck (setter).

They are part of a five-player class that also includes outside hitter Orie Agbaji, a top-five recruit from Kansas City.

“Orie is a big-time athlete — she is very physical, touching around 10-8,” Texas coach Jerritt Elliott said in a statement. “She has the ability to be really good in front of the setter and behind. We think she has a great upside — her work ethic stands out to me. She is determined to be great.”

All five signees have at some point been named Under Armour All-American.

The newcomers help replace an excellent senior class comprised of All-American middle blocker Molly McCage, defensive specialist Kat Brooks, and Neal, the Big 12 player of the year. The Longhorns made it all the way to the nationals finals in 2015 before falling to Nebraska.
