DALLAS — Not that it came as any surprise, but Charlie Strong continues to present himself as relaxed, yet focused, and intently eager to prove himself as Texas’ coach and produce a winning season.
Facing questions at numerous points about when he might name a starting quarterback, Strong joked that he might announce walk-on Trey Holtz as his starter, cracking that “If I sent him out at quarterback, you’d see on the scoreboard, ‘Charlie Strong Fired.’”
He also was progressive and involved and adamant that his players be free to engage questions about social issues in today’s highly charged climate, but to conduct themselves professionally. “It’s got to take all of us” to enact change, he said.
