WATCH: Tom Herman shows off watchdog reporter skills

Posted February 22nd, 2017

Tom Herman is often described as intense, but he is no Nick Saban when it comes to media interactions.

Whether it is speaking about his skateboard skills or how he was once fired for eating pastrami, the new Texas coach isn’t afraid to let his soft side show. And he’s not above going for a cheap laugh.

During media availability for Longhorns defensive coaches on Wednesday, Herman interrupted an interview with defensive line coach Oscar Giles to ask a difficult question.

“Do you know what flavor of cereal you like best?” he stammered, with the feigned nervous body language of a green reporter.

Herman has no doubt been asked some off-the-wall questions during his first few months on the job. He’s also been on the other side as a member of the media. In a story published by the Dallas Morning News earlier this week, he described the radio and TV gigs he held during college — and his love for pastrami.
