Two out of three Texas men’s tennis players advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championships singles draw on Wednesday in Athens, Ga.
Harrison Scott, ranked 36th, defeated No. 90 Razvan Grigorescu of Omaha 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (4).
No. 55 Yuya Ito advanced with a 6-3, 6-4 win over 38th-ranked Aziz Dougaz of Florida State.
Texas freshman, No. 25 Christian Sigsgaard, was upset by Sasha Gozun of South Florida 6-1, 7-6 (5).
Ito, a UT freshman, will next face Mike Redlicki of Arkansas in the second round Thursday.
Sophomore Scott will take on Alex Ghilea of Oklahoma in Thursday’s second round.
With one more win for Ito and Scott each will earn All-America honors.
