Two of three boats advanced to the grand final of the NCAA Championships in West Windsor, N.J., on Saturday.
The varsity eight and the four boat will compete in Sunday’s grand final. The second varsity eight will compete in the consolation final.
“Every boat knows it has a job to do,” said head coach Dave O’Neill in a UT press release. “It’s all about the team for us. If every boat races hard, I think we can get on the podium.”
The four boat became the first from UT to reach the grand final of the NCAA Championships. The boat took third place, besting Stanford by nearly five seconds.
The varsity eight boat qualified for its second grand final in three years. They finished the semifinal in 6:12.137 for third place, just ahead of Ohio State for the final qualifying spot.
The second varsity eight boat was less than a second shy of qualifying for the grand final.
On Friday, the fourth-ranked Longhorns advanced all three boats.
