Let’s use Texas’ roster, history and scouting reports to countdown to the start of the 2017 football season. Today, we are only 39 days away from Texas’ home game against Maryland.

Which Longhorn wears No. 39? Deep snapper Michael David Poujol and linebacker Edward Pequeno. Neither player, however, has played a down at Texas yet. The No. 39 once belonged to Austin native Ryan Bailey, who used one of his 25 career field goals to beat Nebraska in 2006.

Who also wears No. 39? Iowa State DS Steve Wirtel (12 games in 2016)

Fun fact about No. 39: From 1994-97, James Brown started 39 times at Texas. Only Colt McCoy (53 starts) and Peter Gardere (41) made more starts as UT’s quarterback than Brown, who also ranks third at the school in career passing yards (7,638).
