Texas coach Tom Herman appears to have settled on hiring his new 10th assistant — Auburn offensive line coach Herb Hand.
College football reporter Brett McMurphy tweeted on Tuesday that Hand would be hired by the Longhorns. A source later confirmed that Hand would be the team’s offensive line coach and co-offensive coordinator.

Source confirms Auburn's Herb Hand will come to Texas as co-OC/OL coach first reported by @Brett_McMurphy. Seems like great hire. Texas needed help there.

It’s unclear what Hand’s hire means for current UT offensive line coach Derek Warehime. The Longhorns struggled with depth issues up front this season and played without All-American left tackle Connor Williams (knee injury) for half the year.
Hand has worked at Clemson, West Virginia, Tulsa, Vanderbilt, Penn State and Auburn. He’s been with the Tigers the last two seasons. This season, the Tigers had the nation’s 26th-best rushing attack but allowed 2.6 sacks per game, one of the highest totals in the country.
