This month, Texas received enough votes to sneak into a few preseason polls. One publication, however, has a higher opinion of the Longhorns.
Texas was ranked 14th in the preseason poll released on Tuesday by Baseball America. No. 5 Texas Tech and No. 7 TCU were the only other Big 12 teams included in the year-opening prediction.
With its placement in the Baseball America rankings, Texas climbed a few rungs on the national ladder. The Longhorns were ranked 21st and 23rd, respectively, in the D1Baseball.com and Perfect Game/Rawlings’ preseason polls.

Texas went 39-24 and reached a regional final in its first season with head coach David Pierce. UT lost 11 players to the MLB draft but All-American candidate Nolan Kingham is among the returnees. The Longhorns will host UL-Lafayette in their season opener on Feb. 16.
24 days until the start of the @TexasBaseball season.
Fun fact: Sophomore OF Austin Todd scored 24 times last year. Three of those runs were scored in an 11-10 loss at TCU in which he and Zane Gurwitz became the 1st Longhorns since 2008 to record 5 hits in a game.#HookEm pic.twitter.com/FCvCiERoFH
