The early recruiting buzz built by Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M took a bit of a hit Tuesday night when St. Pius X quarterback Grant Gunnell de-committed from the Aggies. Gunnell committed to Texas A&M when Kevin Sumlin was head coach in College Station and the 4-star junior cited the coaching change as one reason for opening his commitment.

Gunnell did note that Texas A&M is in the mix. It is unclear whether the private-school star would fit into Fisher’s plans in 2019 class, which still holds five commitments, including three Fabulous 55 members. The only two other quarterbacks in the class to hold Texas A&M offers are Texas commit Roschon Johnson and Oklahoma commit Spencer Rattler.
Johnson is Texas’ lone commitment in the 2019 class.
