Texas shot 300 Saturday in the second round of stroke play at the NCAA Championship in Stillwater, Okla. The score was a nine-shot improvement from Friday’s results.
UT finished the day in 18th place with a stroke total of 609, 33 over par.
Sophia Schubert sits at 150, 6 over par in a tie for 44th, to lead Texas. Freshman Kaitlyn Papp shot 72 to improve by seven strokes from her first round. She trails Schubert by one shot, sitting tied for 54th.
Agathe Laisne shot 77 for a 153 total. She sits in a tie for 68th. Greta Isabella Voelker improved by seven strokes with a 76 for a 159 total and a share of 106th place.
Emilee Hoffman is one stroke in back of Voelker after shooting 81 Saturday. She sits tied for 110th.
Jennifer Kupcho of Wake Forest, Bianca Pagdanganan of Arizona and Cheyenne Knight of Alabama are in a three-way tie for first. Southern California led at 291, 3 over par, after the first round but dropped to third as UCLA took the lead Saturday.
The field will shrink to the top 15 teams before Monday’s fourth and final round of stroke play. After that round, the top eight teams will advance to match play.
The Longhorns trail Colorado and Wake Forest, who are tied for 14th, by two strokes entering Sunday’s third round.
