The state’s top pass rusher chose Notre Dame over Texas on Saturday afternoon when NaNa Osafo-Mensah announced his pledge to the Fighting Irish. He is the No. 8 player on the Fabulous 55. The 6-foot-4, 231-pound defensive end took an official visit to Notre Dame on April 13 and to Texas on May 4.
The family atmosphere on the trip to South Bend helped seal his commitment.

“The players up there are awesome,” Osafo-Mensah said. “I don’t have an older brother. I have a younger sister. But when I was at Notre Dame for my visit, it felt like I was surrounded by a bunch of my brothers. Within a day they were treating me like I was one of them.”
Osafo-Mensah becomes the second member of the Fab 55 to choose Notre Dame, joining defensive tackle Hunter Spears of Sachse High School. The two took an official visit to South Bend on the same weekend. Texas’ 2019 recruiting class remains at six members.
