Anna Turati had a strong start but ultimately fell in the second round of the NCAA women’s singles tennis draw in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Thursday.
Anna Danilina of Florida defeated No. 30 Turati 1-6, 6-2, 6-2.
“Today, Anna played a really good match but unfortunately came up a little short,” UT head coach Howard Joffe said. “The Florida player got into a groove in the middle of the final set and could not put a foot wrong. Anna did great, and she has set herself up as one of the top returning players next year.”
Turati took the first set easily over the 18th-ranked Danilina. Danilina moved on to the third round after winning two straight sets after that.
