Janae Jefferson named NFCA All-American

Posted May 30th, 2018

Janae Jefferson earned a spot on the second team of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association’s All-American squad, the association announced Wednesday.

Jefferson, a freshman, led Texas in batting average, hits, runs, on-base percentage and steals. She hit .392, including 11 doubles and 24 RBIs.

She’s the fourth Longhorn in program history to make the NFCA All-American team. Cat Osterman (2002), Lindsay Gardner (2000) and Blaire Luna (2010) also earned spots on the team for Texas.

Jefferson is also one of 10 finalists for the Schutt Sports/NFCA national freshman of the year award.

She had a 14-game hitting streak this season and reached base safely in 16 straight games twice. The freshman displayed discipline at the plate, not striking out until her 37th game of the season.
