Will Mo Bamba stay in Texas, or will he be moving back home after the 2018 NBA Draft?
Those are just two of the possible outcomes for the Texas star, who is expected to be a top-10 pick on Thursday night.
The trendy projection seems to be that Bamba will end up staying in Texas, landing with the Dallas Mavericks as the No. 5 pick. That’s the consensus of mock drafts at CBS Sports, Sports Illustrated and The Ringer. Thursday afternoon, ESPN’s NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted out a top six that had Bamba going to Dallas.
Here's how the Top 6 of tonight's NBA Draft is taking shape: 1. Suns: Deandre Ayton. 2. Kings: Marvin Bagley Jr.; 3. Hawks: Luka Doncic; 4. Jaren Jackson, Jr.; 5. Mavericks: Mo Bamba; 6. Magic: Trae Young.

Anything can still happen, especially if the top five gets shifted around by trades. Ian Begley from ESPN reported that Bamba met with the New York Knicks on Wednesday. The Knicks hold the No. 9 pick and would likely need to trade up to get Bamba.
Members of the Knicks organization met in-person with Texas’ Mohamed Bamba in New York today, team sources told ESPN. The meeting is an indication that the Knicks are considering trading up from the No. 9 pick. Bamba is projected as the fifth pick in ESPN's latest mock draft.

Other teams — including the Bulls, Clippers and Magic — are rumored to have interest in trading up, and the Mavs could seek a trade with the Hawks for the No. 3 pick, according to Kevin O’Connor from The Ringer. It’s also possible the Grizzlies grab Bamba at No. 4, something that’s predicted in the mock draft done by ESPN.
No matter what happens, there is about to be another high-profile Texas ex in the NBA.
