Emilee Hoffman, who will be a junior in the fall, won two matches Friday to advance to the final of the Women’s Western Golf Association’s 118th National Amateur Championship in Romeoville, Ill.
Hoffman, the top seed in the tournament, defeated Brigitte Thibault 6 and 5 in the quarterfinals before a 1 up win in the semifinal over Katharine Patrick.
The All-Big 12 selection had won twice Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals. She defeated Alexis Miestowski of Indiana 1 up in the round of 32 at Mistwood Golf Club. Hoffman then beat Mikhaela Fortuna of Oklahoma 4 and 3.
Hoffman will face Tristyn Nowlin of Illinois in a 36-hole final Saturday.
Sara Kouskova, an incoming UT freshman, took two wins at the British Amateur but fell in Friday’s round of 16. She beat Maria Balcazar on the 19th hole in the first round. Kouskova then topped Sophia Zeeb 1 up in the second round.
