Texas men land commitment from four-star guard Donovan Williams

Posted September 12th, 2018

Texas men’s coach Shaka Smart picked up the first commitment of the 2019 signing class on Wednesday when four-star guard Donovan Williams announced he would become a Longhorn.

Williams, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Missouri City, visited the Horns over the weekend and was scheduled to visit Texas A&M this weekend.

“I am thankful for this game and the experiences and memories that have come along with it,” Williams posted on Twitter. “I am grateful for all the people I have met upon this journey that have helped along the way. After careful consideration, I’ve decided to commit to the University of Texas.”

“The visit to UT was amazing and I could tell (my family) loved the idea of me staying close to home,” Williams told Orangebloods.com. “ Just talking with them after the visit I knew Texas would be a great decision.”

UT assistant coach Jai Lucas and his father, John, have known Williams for years.
