Texas junior Anna Turati swept teammate Bojana Markovic 6-1, 6-0 Monday to win the singles championship at the ITA Texas Regionals in College Station.
Turati, seeded No. 1 in the event, had a first-round bye and then won six matches in a row without losing a set.
“I’m super excited to win the title at the regionals,” Turati said. “I’m even more proud of our entire team and our performance here. Texas dominated the tournament. We had three players in the semifinals, so I’m very proud of the group.”
The other UT semifinalist was Fernanda Labraña, who lost to Markovic on Sunday. Turati beat Texas Tech’s Francesca Sella to reach the final.
This was the second year in a row that the tournament had an all-Longhorns final. Turati’s twin sister, Bianca, beat Petra Granic last year.
in 2015, UT’s Breaunna Addison won the title.
