Texas dropped two spots in this week’s College Football Playoff rankings, which were released on Tuesday evening.
The Longhorns were ranked 19th on a list that will determine who appears in college football’s playoff. Last week, Texas made its first-ever appearance in a ranking that debuted in 2014. Texas, though, slipped from the 17th slot following a 42-41 loss to West Virginia.

West Virginia was seated ninth in a ranking topped by Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame and Michigan. The Big 12 was also represented by No. 6 Oklahoma.
Texas (6-3; 4-2 Big 12) will travel to Texas Tech (5-4; 3-3) on Saturday night. The Longhorns, who have lost two straight games, are ranked 15th in the Associated Press’ national poll.
