Texas men’s swimming team tops Tennessee

The fifth-ranked Texas men’s swimming and diving team came from behind to defeat No. 15 Tennessee 156.5-143.5 in Knoxville on Friday.

A win in the final event, the 200-yard freestyle relay, put the Longhorns over the top. Danny Krueger, John Shebat, Drew Kibler and Tate Jackson teamed up to win the race in 1 minute, 18.48 seconds.

Overall, the Longhorns won eight races at the dual meet.

Townley Haas won the 500 freestyle in 4:23.00.

Chris Yeager improved on his season best in the 1,000 freestyle with a 9:04.26.

Ryan Harty took the 100 backstroke in 47.28 and the 200 backstroke in 1:44.18.

Andrew Koustik won the 200 butterfly in 1:46.43, the best time of the year for UT in the event. That gave the freshman a top-10 time in the NCAA this year.
