On Wednesday’s Signing Day, Texas added 15 names to the baseball team’s roster.

This year’s signing class features only players who are still in high school, and only two of the incoming Longhorns are out-of-state recruits. The local signees are Rouse pitcher Jared Southard and Lake Travis infielder Brett Baty, the latter of which was the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year in 2018.

Boerne outfielder Douglas Hodo III’s father was a starting outfielder on Texas’ 1983 championship team. Godley pitcher Chase Lummus’ father, Mark, pitched at Texas. Austin Wallace, an outfielder and pitcher out of Flower Mound, is the son of former UT walk-on Danny Wallace.

David Pierce is entering his third year as Texas’ head coach. Pierce’s last two recruiting classes only lost five players to the MLB Draft.
