A pair of Longhorns earned second-place finishes on the first day of the Texas Hall of Fame Diving Invitational at the Jamail Texas Swimming Center Wednesday.
Jordan Windle took second place in the1-meter final as he finished with 401.65 points. Zhipeng Zeng of Tennessee edged out Windle with 413.55 points. Zeng is the defending NCAA champion in the platform event.
Windle earned the title of Big 12 Diver of the Week Wednesday as well. Windle won the 3-meter diving event against Texas A&M in early November. He also finished second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events against Tennessee last weekend.
Murphy Bromberg finished second in the women’s 3-meter event final, scoring 354.00 points. Alicia Blagg of Miami won the event with 361.45 points.
In swimming news, Andrew Koustik, a freshman at UT earned the honor of Big 12 Swimmer of the Week. He posted season-best times in the 200 fly and the 400 individual medley over the weekend against Tennessee. Koustik finished the 200 fly in 1 minute, 46.43 seconds for the win. His time in the 400 IM of 3:57.39 was the best time for UT this season.
Joanna Evans made it a sweep for Texas as she was named the women’s Big 12 Swimmer of the Week. She took first place in four events over the last two meets.
Evans won the 200 and 500 freestyle against No. 5 California. She also won both the 500 and 1,000 freestyle events against Texas A&M.
