Longhorns soccer players earn honors

A pair of Longhorns soccer players earned honors for their work during the season, the school announced Thursday.

Cyera Hintzen was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-American second team. It’s the second year in a row Hintzen has earned the honor.

Katie Glenn also made the Senior CLASS All-America second team.

Hintzen highlighted her junior season with a Big 12 offensive player of the year award. She scored 10 goals to tie for second in the league and had the most assists with nine.

She led the Longhorns to a 13-5-3 record this year.

Glenn earned a spot on the Senior CLASS All-America team for her efforts on and off the field. She’s the first Longhorn to earn the honor since Abby Smith in 2015.

The team recognizes Division I seniors with notable achievements in their community, the classroom, their character and competition. CLASS stands for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School.

Glenn had career highs in assists and points. She scored five goals to go with seven assists, totaling 17 points. She had goals or assists in eight matches and tied for second in the Big 12 in assists.

Glenn was named Big 12 player of the week Sept. 11 for scoring two goals and recording an assist in a two-game stretch. She also scored in the Red River Showdown, a 3-2 victory over Oklahoma.

In the classroom, Glenn achieved a 3.45 grade-point average in health promotion and behavioral science.

Bianca St. George of West Virginia was the only other Big 12 member who earned the honor. She made the first team.

CeCe Kizer of Mississippi won the overall individual award.
