Marcus Banks, the top cornerback in the state, includes Longhorns in top five

Posted April 15th, 2018

Spring Dekaney cornerback Marcus Banks cut his college list to five and included the Longhorns along with LSU, Alabama, Texas A&M and Auburn. The 6-foot, 170-pound defensive back is the No. 12-ranked player on the Fabulous 55 and the top-rated cornerback on the list. He’s the top in-state target at the position for the Longhorns.

Banks is former teammates with Texas 2018 signee, Malcolm Epps. Banks build a strong relationship with the Texas staff, specifically defensive back coach Jason Washington, over the past three years. Banks will take an official visit to Texas on May 4 and to Texas A&M on April 27. He plans on taking all five official visits before picking a college.

The Longhorns are also in the mix for out-of-state cornerbacks Kenyatta Watson II and Chris Steele. Texas hopes to sign three cornerbacks in the 2019 cycle.
