Breckyn Hager swore he wouldn’t do it. Or at least not before the Longhorns won a Big 12 championship. But for Matthew McConaughey (and that whole Sugar Bowl victory, or whatever), it seemed Hager was willing to make an exception… and get the cut.
The Texas defensive end is looking a little different without “four years of growth” attached to his head after a fateful meeting with McConaughey Monday. Hager has notoriously sworn he wouldn’t cut his locks until the Longhorns secured a Big 12 championship, but it seemed Texas’ upset over Georgia during last week’s Sugar Bowl spurred a change of heart. Or, hair.
Hager took to Instagram to share pictures of the cut: before, during and after.
According to ESPN, Longhorn Coach Tom Herman was “never a fan of Hager’s hair” and reportedly wanted to be the one behind the scissors, or even suggested everyone on the team take a snip at it. For the sake of Hager’s “new beginning,” we’re glad he opted for the more alright option.
