Texas athletes compete at Aggie Twilight in College Station

Various Texas athletes competed at the Aggie Twilight meet in College Station, with one securing a win Saturday night.

Jake Johnson won the mile with a personal-best time of 4 minutes, 14.21 seconds.

Barret Poth added a second-place finish in the men’s pole vault, clearing  a height of 17 feet, 2 3/4 inches. On the women’s side of the event, Shay Petty also took second place with a height of 13-8 1/2.

The Longhorns scored some third-place finishes as well. Valery Tobias hit a personal record in the 800 meters with a time of 2:15.17 for third place. Claudine Blancaflor took third in the mile with a time of 5:01.73.

The Texas track and field squad will next compete at the Big 12 Indoor Championships beginning Friday in Lubbock.
